Pool Mate Algaecide for Pools - 2-Pack (1 Quart Each)

This product is compatible with most swimming pool chemicals and, when used as directed, is not harmful to the metal, paint, plastic, or non-porous glazed tile surfaces of the pool. No special equipment is required for treating swimming pool water using this product. The correct use dilution can be added directly to the pool in any spot or added to the water-circulation equipment. Best results are achieved when this product is added directly to the water by pouring around the outside perimeter of the pool. It is important to not allow swimming in the pool for at least 15 minutes after this product has been applied and to ensure that all pool equipment is working properly.

Additionally, it is recommended to backwash the filter system following the manufacturer’s directions, adjust the pH between 7.2-7.6, and adjust chlorine residual to 1-3 ppm. In a chlorine-treated pool, stabilizer should be added to establish a minimum level of 40-50 ppm to reduce the degradative effects of sunlight upon the chlorine residual. Checking for metals and adding stain and scale inhibitor to prevent staining of the pool surface due to metals is also necessary. It is essential to check the chlorine residual and adjust it to 1-3 ppm.

To efficiently inhibit algae growth and keep pool water sparkling and clear of visible green and blue-green algae, slime, and green-brown colors, vacuuming algae debris and thoroughly brushing the pool is recommended. This product should be added at a rate of 5.2 oz. per 10,000 gal. of water, followed by vacuuming the pool after 24 hours to remove dead algae. If algae are still visible, this process should be repeated as necessary until the pool is free of visible algae. Once algae are under control, it is important to clean the filter and return to normal operation.

For the maintenance dose, it is recommended to add 1.28 oz. of this product per 10,000 gal. of water every 3-5 days. If high temperatures prevail or the pool has unusually heavy use, the maintenance dose should be added more frequently. A booster dose of 1.28 oz. per 10,000 gal. of water should be added after a heavy or prolonged rainfall or when there is a heavy bathing load. The directions should be followed even when the pool is not in use. If algae growth is noticeable, the initial dose should be applied. This non-metallic algaecide efficiently prevents and kills algae in all pool types, including vinyl, fiberglass, concrete, gunite, etc.
