This product is designed to prevent discoloration of pool water caused by a variety of metals and minerals that may be present in the water supply, including iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and others. It functions as an excellent general-purpose sequestrant, helping to protect plumbing and pool walls from the detrimental effects of rust, staining, and scale formation.

For the initial filling of a pool, if iron or other metallic contaminants are suspected, it is recommended to add one quart of this product for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. This should be done while the pool is being filled and before any chlorine is added.

To address an existing colored water problem in the pool, which is likely due to the presence of minerals, the following steps should be taken:

1. Close the pool to all swimmers and keep the filter pump running.
2. Stop chlorinating the pool and allow the chlorine level to drop to zero.
3. Lower the pH of the pool water to 6.8 using pH Lower. This will help re-dissolve the metallic impurities.
4. Add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight or until the water becomes clear.
5. Re-adjust the pH of the pool water to the range of 7.2-7.8 using pH Rise.
6. Resume normal chlorination and pool operation.
7. Swimming may resume when the chlorine residual is between 1.0-3.0 ppm.

To compensate for the loss of this product due to backwashing and/or splash-out, it is recommended to add one quart per 20,000 gallons of pool water, once each month.

This product is effective in removing and preventing the buildup of various metals and minerals, including calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, and silver. It should be used for all pool openings, closings, and throughout the season as needed to maintain the water quality and protect the pool's infrastructure.
