This versatile product helps prevent discoloration of pool water caused by various metals and minerals, such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and others that may be present in the water supply. As an excellent general-purpose sequestrant, it effectively protects plumbing and pool walls from the harmful effects of rust, staining, and scale formation.

For the initial filling of a pool, if iron or other metallic contaminants are suspected, add one quart of this product for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. Ensure that the addition is made while the pool is being filled and before any chlorine is introduced.

To address an existing colored water problem caused by the presence of minerals in the pool water, follow these steps: 1. Close the pool to all swimmers. 2. Keep the filter pump running. 3. Stop chlorinating the pool and allow the chlorine level to drop to zero. 4. Lower the pH of the pool water to 6.8 using pH Lower. This will help re-dissolve the metallic impurities. 5. Add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight or until the water is clear. 6. Adjust the pH of the pool water back to the recommended range of 7.2-7.8 using pH Rise. 7. Resume normal chlorination and pool operation. 8. Swimming may be resumed once the chlorine residual is within the 1.0-3.0 ppm range.

To compensate for the loss of this product due to backwashing and/or splash-out, add one quart per 20,000 gallons of pool water, once each month.
