Category: pool mate metal out

This product is designed to address the common issue of pool water discoloration caused by the presence of various metals and minerals, such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and others, that may be present in the water supply. As an excellent general-purpose sequestrant, it helps protect the plumbing and pool walls from the damaging effects of rust, staining, and scaling.

For the initial filling of the pool, if the presence of iron or other metallic contaminants is suspected, it is recommended to add one quart of this product for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. This should be done while the pool is being filled and before the addition of chlorine.

In the case of an existing colored water problem, which is typically caused by the presence of minerals in the pool water, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Close the pool to all swimmers and keep the filter pump running.
  2. Stop chlorinating the pool and allow the chlorine level to drop to zero.
  3. Lower the pool water pH to 6.8 using pH Lower. This will help re-dissolve the metallic impurities.
  4. Add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight or until the water is clear.
  5. Re-adjust the pool water pH to the recommended range of 7.2-7.8 using pH Rise.
  6. Resume normal chlorination and pool operation.
  7. Swimming may be resumed once the chlorine residual is within the 1.0-3.0 ppm range.

To account for the loss of this product due to backwashing and/or splash-out, it is recommended to add one quart per 20,000 gallons of pool water, once each month.

In summary, this product is a versatile solution that helps prevent, remove, and maintain the clarity of pool water by addressing the presence of various metals and minerals, including calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, and silver. Its use is recommended throughout the pool season, as well as during opening and closing procedures, to ensure the optimal performance and protection of your pool's plumbing and surfaces.
