This product is designed to address the discoloration of pool water caused by a variety of metals and minerals, including iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and others that may be present in the water supply. As an excellent general-purpose sequestrant, it helps protect the plumbing and pool walls from rust, staining, and scale buildup.

For the initial filling of the pool, if iron or other metallic contaminants are suspected, it is recommended to add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of pool water during the filling process and before adding chlorine.

To correct an existing colored water problem due to the presence of minerals in the pool water, the following steps should be taken:

1. Close the pool to all swimmers and keep the filter pump running.
2. Stop chlorinating the pool and allow the chlorine level to drop to zero.
3. Lower the pH of the pool water to 6.8 using a pH lower product. This will help re-dissolve the metallic impurities.
4. Add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight or until the water is clear.
5. Re-adjust the pH of the pool water to a range between 7.2-7.8 using a pH rise product.
6. Begin normal chlorination and pool operation.
7. Swimming may resume when the chlorine residual is between 1.0-3.0 ppm.

To compensate for the loss of this product due to backwashing and/or splash-out, it is recommended to add one quart per 20,000 gallons of pool water, once each month.

This product helps remove and prevent the buildup of various metals and minerals, including calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, and silver, which can contribute to discoloration and other water quality issues in the pool.

It should be used for all pool openings and closings, as well as throughout the season as needed, to maintain optimal water quality and protect the pool's plumbing and surfaces.
